This paper reviews early studies of radiative
corrections (RC) to the muon and to the beta decays.
One loop RC to beta decays
of hadrons are significantly enhanced with respect to analogous
corrections to the muon decay.
The nature of this enhancement
is explained.
Ultraviolet sensitivity of the beta-decay RC, found in the early studies,
is compared to and contrasted with the dependence of Standard Model
corrections on the electroweak boson masses
