Abstract
The excess of direct photon production at low-$p_{\rm T}$ in heavy ion collisions is often associated with the thermal radiation of the system. The direct photons are generated through the entire evolution of the collision system and once they are created they leave the system without further interaction. The recent measurements of collective phenomena in the smaller collisions systems suggest a formation of strongly interacting medium in these collisions systems. PHENIX has now measured low-$p_{\rm T}$ direct photon production in p+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200~{\rm GeV}$ and reports the the results in this proceedings.
